Northwest Cellars 2012 Syrah, Columbia Valley, $32
By Great Northwest Wine on October 19, 2015
Two vineyards in Walla Walla County — Spofford Station and Tasawik, the latter planted in 2003 — come together to produce this fruit-forward and plush expression of Syrah for Robert Delf’s program. Aromas of dark toast, plum jam, lilac, rose petal and fresh-stripped cedar transition to flavors of ripe plum and Marionberry taffy. Juicy pomegranate acidity leads to a rather hedonistic finish of Raisinets and vanilla extract. These wines are available at Delf’s tasting room in Kirkland, Wash., as well as Nectar Tasting Room in downtown Spokane.
