Tertulia Cellars 2014 Whistling Hills Estate Vineyard Viognier, Walla Walla Valley, $20
Winemaker Ryan Raber and vineyard manager Ryan Driver teamed up beautifully on their tribute to the Rhône Valley, which includes Roussanne (25%). It offers up gorgeous aromas of lemongrass, lemon verbena, tangerine and sweet herbs. Inside, there’s a bright entry of Mandarin orange, pear and apple which is nicely rounded by a French oak for balance. These wines are available at their location near the stateline in the Walla Walla Valley as well as their new Dundee, Ore., tasting room inside the tony Inn at Red Hills. This earned a gold medal at the 2015 Walla Walla Valley Wine Competition, a scholarship fundraiser for the Walla Walla Community College wine program.
