Cavatappi Winery 2012 Molly’s Cuvee Sangiovese, Columbia Valley, $20
By Great Northwest Wine on November 1, 2015
Puget Sound restaurateur-turned-vintner Peter Dow names this blend of Alder Ridge, Boushey and Red Willow vineyards for one of his daughters, Molly. Those stellar sites make for a Sangiovese that brings aromas of black cherry jam, pomegranate, Graham cracker, toast and black olive. There’s a match on the palate, which offers a structure that begins with a smooth entry of milk chocolate Chukar Cherries that’s backed by balanced acidity and lengthy finish.
