Vizcaya Winery 2014 Albariño, Naches Heights, $22
By Great Northwest Wine on November 5, 2015
The Hansen family recently opened the doors to its Snake River Valley tasting room in Kuna, Idaho, and they already have earned medals to hang on bottles. While four of their five wines are made from their estate Windy Ridge Vineyard, they reached into one of Washington state’s higher elevation viticulture areas — Phil Cline’s Naches Heights Vineyard — for this Albariño. It expresses a touch of minerality along with brisk and pleasing notes of Asian pear, lime and lemon through its bone-dry finish. This earned a silver medal at the 2015 Idaho Wine Competition, and it will pair nicely with ceviche or chicken.
