3 Horse Ranch Vineyards 2012 Single Vineyard Syrah, Snake River Valley, $21
By Great Northwest Wine on November 8, 2015
Gary Cunningham farms 46 acres of vineyards throughout his 1,600-acre ranch in Idaho’s Eagle Foothills, and one of Idaho’s best vintages of the young century led to this single-vineyard estate Syrah crafted by Greg Koenig. Rather than opulent and hedonistic, this Syrah shows balance from start to finish with a fruit-forward profile of Marionberry and elderberry. Juicy acidity easily pushes through the tannins and leads to the finish of blueberry cobbler.
