Angel Vine 2012 The Hellion, Columbia Valley, $24
By Great Northwest Wine on December 5, 2015
Portland urban winemaker Ed Fus creates a sturdy knot when stitching together this blend of Primitivo (43%), Petite Sirah (28%) and Zinfandel from some of Washington state’s top vineyards, including Alder Ridge and StoneTree. It exudes aromas of black cherry pie with tar, black pepper, sweet herbs and light tobacco. Next is a reception of sweetened roasted plum and black currant flavors bound within a firm tannin structure and finished by pomegranate wrapped in bittersweet chocolate. These wines are handled in Washington by Cru Selections and in Oregon through Crush Wine Distributors and Estelle Imports.
