Bonair Winery 2012 Chateau Puryear Vineyard Malbec, Rattlesnake Hills, $24
By Great Northwest Wine on December 15, 2015
Founder Gail Puryear and winemaker Bill Mechem continue with their barrel program of aging their estate Malbec in new 225-liter French oak, which leads to aromas of espresso and toast in front of blueberry, Jolly Rancher Grape candy and vanilla. The palate offers an easy drink of purple fruit akin to black currant and Marionberry, backed by a solid midpalate of pomegranate and plum skin, and finished pleasantly with boysenberry and anise. Enjoy this with grilled beef, and look for it in the Seattle area via Esquin Wine & Spirits.
