Woodinville winemaker Tim Armstrong takes a trip to the Gorge Amphitheater and SageCliffe Vineyards for his latest impressive release, a reserve-style Chardonnay. Aged on the lees for 18 months in 100 percent new French oak, it offers aromas of dusty Gala apple, maraschino cherry, brown sugar and butter with just a touch of oak and sprinkle of baking spice. Inside, it’s rich and round on the entry offering flavors of pear butter and more Gala apple. A spark of acidity on the midpalate transitions to a luscious finish. The Armstrongs enjoy this with crab cakes, plank-grilled salmon and mushroom risotto.
