Best Buy! Leo Gabica, who spent eight years as the assistant winemaker at this bucolic winery near Eugene, Ore., took the reins for owner Dan Smith starting with this vintage. He crafted this remarkable Riesling from vineyards in three regions — Foris (Rogue Valley), Three Creeks (Illinois Valley) and Kraemer Farm in the Willamette Valley. The approach of leaving it with 5% residual sugar allows for an aromatic floral nose and flavors and aromas of sweet lime and tart orange. Crisp acidity balances the sugar and a close of minerality finishes this wine very cleanly. For a pre-dinner sipper, it’s perfection. It earned a double gold at the 2015 Great Northwest Invitational in October.
