Few folks in Idaho choose to work with Gewürztraminer, but Martin Fujishin does in a deliciously dry fashion using fruit from Skyline Vineyard — the bread basket for the Snake River Valley wine industry. Attractive aromas of dusty pear, pink grapefruit and clove gather up flavors of Asian pear and cantaloupe. There’s solid acidity, particularly for a variety that can present itself as flabby, and the complete fermentation in stainless steel makes for a fruity finish that’s far from sweet. Enjoy with turkey, chicken or Asian-spiced pork loin. These wines are available through the website, in limited distribution throughout the Treasure Valley and at the tasting room in the Sunnyslope Wine District.
