Best Buy! Longtime Washington winemaker Ron Bunnell works with the Dufenhorst family, which pulls from two estate vineyards, including this 1,600-foot elevation site on the south shore of Lake Chelan near Bear Mountain Ranch. Bunnell, who shines with red Rhône grapes under his own brand, creates a stunningly aromatic white that leads with Gewurztraminer (85%) and includes Viognier (10%) and Riesling. The inviting nose of rosewater, lychee and peaches and grapefruit takes a deliciously dry angle on the palate. Yellow grapefruit and dried pineapple flavors broaden out across a creamy midpalate, leading to a finish of white peach. Suggested pairings include Roasted Butternut Squash Soup with Apple & Curry by Joanie’s Catering in Seattle, and the wine is available at PCC Natural Markets, Downtown Spirits in Seattle, Lone Pine Fruit & Espresso in Orondo and The Vogue in Chelan.
