Kriselle Cellars 2014 Sauvignon Blanc, Rogue Valley, $22
By Great Northwest Wine on February 4, 2016
Southern Oregon winemaker/grower Scott Steingraber and his wife, Krisell, finished pulling this lot in on Sept. 5 from their Buxton Ranch vineyard below Upper Table Rock Plateau near Medford. The timing and treatment, 30% in neutral barrels, develops attractive aromas of grassiness and gooseberry with Granny Smith apple and lime. Its juicy and clean approach carries more green fruit flavors, finishing with racy acidity that mirrors quince and kumquat. The Steingrabers reach for this when serving halibut or tilapia, oysters, garlic prawns, white creamy dishes and herb-influenced cheese such as Boursin.
