Lumos Wine Co. 2013 Five Blocks Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $25
By Great Northwest Wine on February 9, 2016
Five blocks from two sites in the cooler Eola-Amity Hills — Temperance Hill and Pommard-focused Wren Vineyard — combine for a darker-toned Pinot Noir under the care of Dai Crisp, who farms both sites and owns the latter. Dusty black currant, smoky black cherry and dark raspberry aromas pick up toast and moist earth accents. The flavor profile is juicy and smooth on the entry, continuing with dark currant and black raspberry. A bit of cherry skin tannin merely adds to the complexity.
