Rhône wizard Ron Bunnell molds this Mourvèdre (49%), Grenache (27%) and Syrah to create a nicely structured and fruity GSM-style blend. Aromas lead with dark berry punch, black currant candy, Baker’s chocolate, dusty oak and a whiff of wild game. Dark plum and blackberry jelly flavors funnel into a pleasing grip of tannin, backed by Marionberry acidity and a finish of elderberry. The winery suggest pairing this with Joanie’s Beef Flank Steak Marinade, which includes oregano, rosemary, sage and thyme. With its limited production, sales are only available through the winery in Orondo, online and at the Woodinville tasting room – which opens Feb. 20.
