Aubichon Cellars 2013 Riverside Vineyard Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $55
By Great Northwest Wine on February 21, 2016
Oregon winemaker Jim Sanders and grower Tom Mortimer now offer five styles of Pinot Noir under this brand, and here marks their debut vineyard-designate bottling from this site just beyond the boundary of the warmer McMinnville American Viticultural Area. Blackberry, plum, black currant and Montmorency cherry fruit aromas gain complexity from cedar, rose petal and sweet herbs. The structure profile spotlights acidity rather than tannin as raspberry and red currant flavors bring richness. Accents of blueberry skin and light coffee make for a medium long and pleasing finish.
