This marks the second year with Jim Sanders at the helm of this bottling, which annually spotlights a block of Pommard and Dijon 777 from volcanic soil within the Moritmers’ 14-acre planting on Parrett Mountain in the Chehalem Mountains AVA near Newberg, Ore. Of the five wines produced from each of the five blocks, this may be the showiest at the moment. Dusty cherry, fresh strawberry, pomegranate and baking spice aromas also include a hint of vanilla. Its structure is one of finesse, bringing pleasing flavors of red currant, strawberry and raspberry with black currant skin tannins and a finish of cherry pie filling that’s rather charming.
