Canoe Ridge Vineyard 2014 Reserve Chardonnay, Horse Heaven Hills, $26
By Great Northwest Wine on February 26, 2016
One of Walla Walla’s historic brands continues its reputation with Chardonnay off two beautiful estate plantings — The Benches and Canoe Ridge Vineyard – that overlook the Columbia River near Paterson, Wash. Bill Murray’s barrel program of 100% French oak for 10 months makes for aromas of banana taffy, dark toast and raw almonds, followed by flavors of Bananas Foster, lime taffy and more toast. It finishes bone dry with brisk acidity and almond extract.
