Winemaker Linda Donovan creates the lineup for Harry & David inside her Pallet Wine Co. studio in downtown Medford, Ore., and this is a food-friendly unoaked Chardonnay that fits nicely within the company famous for Comice pears starting nearly a century ago. Light tropical aromas also include apricot, cantaloupe and jicama with a touch of brioche from aging the wine for six months on the lees. Inside, it’s akin to lemon chiffon pie with white peach and apricot accents. Starfruit acidity brings a spark, and lower alcohol adds to its charm. Suggested pairings include grilled prosciutto-wrapped prawns with Harry & David’s Chunky Mango Relish.
