Joleté Wines 2014 Le Verre Cuvée Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $21
By Great Northwest Wine on March 1, 2016
Inspired by living on Ribbon Ridge, Oregon Pinot Noir producer Jim Sanders recently began to roll out stunning wines from the 2014 vintage, and his “Le Verre” effort – French for glass – under the bi-state Joleté brand ranks among his best efforts since its debut vintage of 2008. High tones of strawberries, smoked pie cherry, plum and cola take a slightly deeper angle with flavors of red currant, pomegranate and more plum. Notes of Baker’s chocolate with juicy Montmorency cherry in the finish make for a pleasant and darker farewell. It’s not easy to find a Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley of such quality at this price.
