Le Cadeau Vineyard 2013 Pinot Noir, Oregon, $38
By Great Northwest Wine on March 5, 2016
The Mortimers refer to this as their “Red Label” Pinot Noir, and it’s a 100% off their Parrett Mountain site on the edge of the Chehalem Mountains American Viticultural Area overlooking Newberg, Ore. The size of the lot is in the middle range of their 10-tier program within the Aubichon and Joleté program, and this wine has some heritage to Healdsburg. The nose of dusty pie cherry, raspberry and vanilla also offers up baking spice and cocoa powder. Inside, the structure is layered with elegance and finesse as cherry and strawberry-rhubarb compote create a theme that’s approachable while offering vibrant acidity and responsible alcohol.
