Aubichon Cellars 2013 Reserve Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $50
The partnership between Le Cadeau Vineyard owner Tom Mortimer and former Beaux Frères neighbor Jim Sanders used the 2012 vintage to garner more acclaim for their Pinot Noir projects, and they didn’t let the September torrential rains dampen their work from the 2013 season. Aromas of dark raspberry, fresh strawberry, light vanilla, oak spice and saddle leather lad to a gorgeously layered drink. Flavors of strawberry-rhubarb pie and black currant enrobed in milk chocolate are met with a pleasing texture of medium tannins and juicy acidity, backed by tangerine zest and white pepper in the long and soft finish. These wines are available at the Le Cadeau tasting room in Dundee next door to Babica Hen Café and The Inn at Red Hills.
