Northwest Syrah remains delicious, in demand
By Great Northwest Wine on March 27, 2016
Amavi Cellars 2013 Estate Vineyards Syrah, Walla Walla Valley, $32
Winemaker Jean François-Pellet reached into southern Walla Walla Valley sites Les Collines, Stone Valley, Seven Hills, Pepper Bridge and Summit View for his expanded 2013 offering, which starts with alluring aromas of mocha, Marionberry, elderberry and blueberry, backed by toast and cedar. Inside, there’s a big spill of plums, black cherry and fig. Dusty tannins and blueberry acidity make for a complex and delicious farewell. These wines are available for tasting at their stunning vineyard location along Peppers Bridge Road in Walla Walla as well as the Pepper Bridge/Amavi tasting gallery in Woodinville’s Hollywood Hills neighborhood.
