Northwest Syrah remains delicious, in demand
By Great Northwest Wine on March 27, 2016
Stottle Winery 2012 Elerding 6 Prong Vineyard Syrah, Horse Heaven Hills, $32
Prosser doctor Steve Elerding’s vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills is a go-to site for this young winery near Washington’s state capital. It’s an oak lover’s Syrah with dark and dense aromas of vanilla bean, black licorice and clove with dark cherry, milk chocolate and charcuterie joining in. There’s brightness to the juicy structure as purple fruit flavors such as blueberry, elderberry and pomegranate come into play, leading to a farewell of cola.
