Dennis Gross continues to make some of Washington state’s most delicious red wines from his tiny production facility he bonded in 2004 in capital city of Olympia. Much of his fruit comes from the Williams family on Red Mountain, and Kiona forms the base of this Syrah, while Cabernet Sauvignon (11%) from Dumas Station in the Walla Walla Valley adds to the structure. Sweet oak aromas are joined by a wealth of dark plum, black currant and blackberry, backed by white chocolate, black olive and charcuterie. The flavor profile is dominated from start to finish by Marionberry and dark chocolate, offering supple tannins and a juicy finish with sweet pomegranate. Gross entered three red wines in the 2016 Capital Food and Wine Festival Wine Competition, and each one earned a gold medal. The wines are available in the South Puget Sound at Bayview Market, Bud Bay Cafe, Dock Street Bistro, Water Street Cafe, Top Foods in Lacey and Olympia as well as Purple Café and Wine Bar in Seattle.
