Maryhill Winery 2015 Rosé of Sangiovese, Columbia Valley, $16
By Great Northwest Wine on May 4, 2016
Examples from several Washington wineries have shown that Sangiovese produces some of the finest rosés anywhere on the West Coast. Here’s another superb example, as Maryhill Winery drew on Sangiovese grapes from the Columbia Valley for its 2015 rosé. Watermelon and strawberry aromas lead into flavor of the same fruits, plus a touch of red currants on the palate. It finishes with 0.9% residual sugar, which disappears from the palate with its close of juicy acidity. This earned a gold medal at the 2016 Cascadia Wine Competition.
