A product of a classic vintage for Washington state, it also marked the 10th anniversary for Larry Oates’ winery overlooking the Yakima River above the Old Inland Empire Highway. The source for his wines remains nearby Buoy Vineyard, and this historic Bordeaux variety represents a two-barrel lot at the tiny Benton City winery. Roasted walnut, hazelnut skins and black pepper lead to a theme of black cherry and red currant without the leafiness often associated with Carm. The sturdy structure makes for nice length that’s capped by Montmorency cherry.

We stopped it to see what the heck was going on with Seeping Dog as it has been a while. Had a nice visit and tasted some wines of the usual quality. Great visit, great wines. Thanks.
