Nefarious Cellars 2013 Rx-3 Red Wine, Columbia Valley, $35
By Great Northwest Wine on May 10, 2016
The Neffs continue to succeed with Rhone Valley varieties, and this GSM-style blend – it stands for “Rhône times three” — is made with Grenache (40%), Mourvèdre (40%) and Syrah from beyond their Lake Chelan plantings. A luscious nose of blackberry pie, cranberry and mocha includes complexity of crushed herbs as well as fanciful aromas of tutti frutti and maple syrup. That influence of Grenache makes for an entry that’s round and juicy with fresh boysenberry and red currant flavors. Smooth tannins set the stage for a sultry finish.
