It’s not often we get the opportunity to experience an older Northwest fortified Port-style wine, and David Padgett’s expression with this Bordeaux variety grown in the Yakima Valley doesn’t disappoint. Mesmerizing aromas of plum, Marionberry and black cherry also come with vanilla bourbon, raisin and cocoa. The fluid is long and large as huckleberry and Marionberry flavors take the lead. A rush of acidity balances the residual sugar (16%) and there’s lingering heat. Drizzle a little over French vanilla ice cream or enjoy with a wedge of Stilton.
