Armonéa Wines 2013 Wine Country Farm Late Harvest Riesling, Dundee Hills, $30
On the grounds surrounding this charming B&B, events center and tasting room are vineyards established in 1970, some of the oldest vines in the Dundee Hills. A decade ago, the late Joan Davenport added a wine production facility, and Alberto Alcazar, longtime cellarmaster at Ken Wright Cellars, heads up the winemaking. His work with this late harvest Riesling is stunning, opening with complex and inviting aromas of glacéed apricots, baked apple with honey, orange zest, ginger and lavender. The nectar is rich, round and sensual with delicious orchard fruit and tangerine flavors. Its mouth feel and presentation of acidity (14.5% residual sugar) offer better balance than many ice wines. Enjoy with a fruit and cheese plate or pair with a belly button.
