Ste. Michelle Wine Estate’s Block 11 in the Horse Heaven Hills ranks among the oldest sites in Washington state for Chenin Blanc with these vines planted in 1979, and they’d never experienced a growing season as warm as the 2014 vintage. Aromatically, it provides hints of ripe nectarine, dried pear, San Pellegrino Limonata and fresh-mown hay. There’s delicious energy within opening with tangerine and fresh apple. Orange zest easily deals with the touch of sweetness (0.6% residual sugar) and clears the way for a slice of cantaloupe in the finish.
