Ste. Michelle-trained Kyle Johnson obtained fruit from the Red Mountain, Wahluke Slope and Yakima Valley AVAs for his Purple Star 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, creating a sophisticated blend of regions that shows off attractive spice aromas overlaying mixed black and blue fruit. In the mouth, blackberries, black currants and black plums lead to well-managed tannins and a nip of licorice at the end. This earned a gold medal at the 2016 Cascadia Wine Competition.

We visited Purple Star for the first time this year early Spring….one week before the mad rush Spring Barrel. All that we tasted were very good. Left with a mixed case of wines. Yes…I am a wine snob and I do drink wine with my pinkie up and I go by Reginald.
All kidding aside. We have been tasting and buying for years from Yakima to Prosser and are always glad to see folks in the industry. It’s fun to go to a winery where folks know you and you can actually visit with the key folks. Purple Star will be a regular visit for us as the product is outstanding and you will not break the bank purchasing a great wine.
Keep up the great work. Mike and Linda from Olympia, WA.
