Township 7 Vineyards and Winery 2015 Rosé, Okanagan Valley, $18
This Naramata Bench vineyard/winery/tasting room takes Merlot (65%) and Pinot Gris (35%), pressing most of the grapes from their estate and Sperling Vineyards in Kelowna. However, they bled off a portion of the Merlot to help build color while reducing the tannin profile. It makes for the inviting salmon color and charming aromas of tutti frutti, red cherry, nectarine, rose petal and orange marmalade. Cherry, plum juice and nectarine make it to the palate, which is capped by just a drop of residual sugar (0.4%), a dusting of minerality and versatile food-friendly acidity. Sales of this pink are limited to the winery tasting room.
