Durant Vineyards 2015 Ava Lucia Pinot Noir Rosé, Dundee Hills, $25
The Durant family has sold fruit from its Red Ridge farm for decades to a number of talented Oregon winemakers, and they work with renowned Joe Dobbes in the valley below their Dundee Hills estate for this pink. Harvest of the 9-year-old Pommard clones, cropped at 3 tons per acres, came Sept. 24 at 23.8 Brix. Dobbes turned those berries into a rosé of light cranberry in color with aromas of strawberry-rhubarb compote, cherry, lemon custard and facial powder. It’s a clean and bright drink of racy red fruit flavors reminiscent of cranberry, cherry and rhubarb pie. Blueberries in the finish give it a dry finish to pair deliciously with a charcuterie and cheese plate, alder-planked salmon and kebabs off the grill.
