Best Buy! It would seem there’s no looking back for the Sokol Blosser family, which now has 19 years of trailblazing with this brand. The Dundee Hills leaders, with the help of longtime winemaker Russ Rosner, established a following for blended wines along the West Coast with the annual, albeit nonvintage, melange of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Sèmillon, Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer, Muscat Canelli, Chardonnay and Early Muscat. Alex Sokol Blosser took over the winemaking in 2014, and he’s dialed it down to eight varieties on the way to creating aromas of Golden Delicious apple, passion fruit, vanilla bean, peach blossom, lemongrass and Big Hunk candy bar. It’s deliciously dry with a rich and tropical entry that transitions to flavors of Granny Smith apple and limeade, providing balance to the vanilla note and residual sugar of 1% in leading to a pinch of spearmint in the finish. They suggest enjoy it with Asian fare such as Thai curry, Tandoori chicken, spicy tuna rolls and/or on the patio. And when you spot it on a restaurant’s offerings of glass pours, ask for it with confidence.
