Sawtooth Winery 2015 Estate Riesling, Snake River Valley, $13
By Great Northwest Wine on September 30, 2016
Best Buy! Idaho continues to earn international acclaim for its work with Riesling, and winemaker Meredith Smith at Sawtooth — and now also Ste. Chapelle – ranks as one of the Pacific Northwest leaders. Her core production with the noble grape of Germany releases inviting aromas of clove and cardamom with fruity notes of pear, apple and grilled apricot. On the palate, it’s dynamic with flavors of Ambrosia Salad as it blends slaty and sweet notes. The high-elevation of Skyline Vineyard allows for a preservation of natural acidity to balance the residual sugar of 1.8%, making for a medium-sweet finish.
Rating: Excellent
Production: 1,500 cases
Alcohol: 12.5%
