Second-generation winemaker Adam Campbell continues to enjoy watching the maturation of this 15-acre vineyard adjacent to his tennis-playing parents home on Parrett Mountain. This vintage marks the 13th vintage for Clay Court, and the abundantly superb 2014 growing season allowed the Campbells to more than double production from the prior vintage. There’s a ripe and dark profile to the nose of black currant, black cherry and ripe strawberry, accented by hints of moist earthiness and white chocolate from the 10-month barrel program of 40% new French oak. Inside, mild tannins allow for full appreciation of lovely flavors that run from cherry juice to raspberry jam and strawberry. Bright acidity, chocolate shavings and a squeeze of lime peel make for great depth to the finish.
