McMinnville’s oldest winery and winemaker Stephen Cary view Pinot Blanc as their favorite white wine to craft, this release exemplifies their well-placed passion for this often-unappreciated Burgundy grape. The cooling influence of the Van Duzer Corridor effect across Yamhill Valley Vineyard’s Casa and Mainfield blocks allows Cary to capture the stunning acidity that’s the hallmark of this wine. A beautiful nose of grapefruit, starfruit and jicama includes a stroll into the caramel corn shop, perhaps reflecting the four months in 5% neutral oak. Inside, there are slices of white peach, Asian pear and Golden Delicious apple capped by lemon zest. Those who dismiss Pinot Blanc as boring will be pleasantly surprised. Suggested pairings include smoked cheese, poached halibut and oysters.
