Fullerton Wines 2014 Croft Vineyard Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $45
Beaverton, Ore., winemaker Alex Fullerton devotes this bottling to Croft Vineyard, a 30-year-old organic planting near Monmouth. His program of 40 percent whole-cluster fermentation and 25% new French oak presents light toast aromas with black cherry, strawberry fruit leather, caramel and rose hips. Its lithe style brings delicate red fruit flavors, boysenberry acidity, pleasing tannins and no rough edges. The Fullertons’ next hands-on wine course, called Shears and Boots, is scheduled for Jan. 28 at their vineyard near Cooper Mountain Nature Park. The tasting room now is open Friday through Sunday, and the wines are sold in Washington, Idaho and Montana as well as Minnesota, Michigan, Texas, Tennessee and the East Coast.
