Dusted Valley Vintners 2014 Stoney Vine Vineyard Tall Tales Syrah, Walla Walla Valley, $60
By Eric Degerman on February 4, 2017
These Wisconsin natives have planted deep roots in the Walla Walla Valley with three estate vineyards. Stoney Vine is in The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater, but federal regulations don’t allow winemakers to use that on the label unless the wines are produced within in the state of Oregon. Regardless, this has become one of Dusted Valley’s signature wines, and it shows classic notes of The Rocks – savory black olive, smoked meat and saddle leather with dried brambleberry. Balanced tannins come with hedonistic touches of muscovado sugar, toast and clove.
