Domanico Cellars 2008 Le Monstre Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, $40
By Great Northwest Wine on February 11, 2017
The Domanicos launched their winery in 2006, and this bottling of Cabernet Sauvignon from stately Alder Ridge and Lewis vineyards is showing nice maturity. Aromas of black cherry, sweet tobacco, saddle leather and clove NECCO Wafer. Montmorency cherry and Marionberry flavors lead to currant skin tannins with savory notes of game and black olive. Its long juicy finish offers a pinch of oregano, a sign of the Cabernet Franc (25%) influence. Look for this bottling at their tasting rooms in Prosser and the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.
