Horse Heaven Hills grower Mike Andrews created this reserve tier as a special showcase for his picturesque vineyard, and this Cab-based blend from a classic and balanced vintage is remarkably expressive. Components put together by Justin Michaud include Merlot (20%) and Petit Verdot (10%) with a worthy contribution from Mourdèvre (20%). Aromas of blackberry, blueberry and cassis pick up touches of mocha, toast, thyme and charcoal. On the palate, there’s a blossoming of plum, black currant and blueberry with pomegranate acidity and a long reward of refined, cherry-skin tannins and chocolate. Bozak was a prized bull back when this property was established as Horse Heaven Hereford Ranch, and beef is a prime choice alongside this release.
