Wit Cellars 2015 Chardonnay, Ancient Lakes of Columbia Valley, $22
The hits keep coming from Wit Cellars, an exciting new winery in Prosser, Wash., that features winemakers Flint Nelson and Carolina Warwick. They combined forces at Kestrel Vintners before launching their own brand, and their connections within the industry granted them access to prized Evergreen Vineyard for many of their white wines, including this fruit-forward Chardonnay. While it went through fermentation in stainless steel tanks, it was finished in neutral French oak barrels, which makes for fun aromas of fresh Honeycrisp apple and Asian pear with green banana. Rays of brightness stream through the palate with more flavors akin to apple and pear, backed by juicy and delicious acidity. The folks at Wit enjoy this Chardonnay paired with Lemon Chicken with Artichoke Heart, Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Greek olives.
