Convergence Zone Cellars 2013 Downburst Cabernet Franc, Red Mountain, $26
By Great Northwest Wine on March 29, 2017
Western Washington vintner Scott Greenberg works out of both Woodinville and North Bend, but his heartbeat seems tied to Red Mountain. In this case, it’s Cabernet Franc from the Williams family’s Kiona Vineyard. There’s a theme of richness throughout, starting with a nose of strawberry fruit leather, black cherry and raspberry with moist earth. Massive black cherry, plum and vanilla flavors mix with round tannins, leading to a big and complex finish of toast, mocha and mint. This grabbed a worthy gold medal at the 2017 Capital Food and Wine Festival Wine Competition.
