Eternal Wines 2015 Bliss Fortified Syrah, Walla Walla Valley, $50
By Great Northwest Wine on May 24, 2017
College Cellars graduate Brad Binko developed this brand as a sister project to his Drink Washington State lineup, and his debut with fortified Syrah from Morrison Lane Vineyard is an easy drinker. Aromas of grape Tootsie Pop, black cherry and baked bread include sweet spice notes of nutmeg and star anise. Rich flavors of blackcap raspberry and blueberry are joined by molasses and coffee. Satisfying tannins, very modest sweetness (1% residual sugar) and well-presented alcohol make this an intriguing and lithesome take on a Port-style.
Rating: Excellent
