The Wade family continues to grow its presence beyond the Wenatchee Valley, where its farming legacy west of the Mississippi began in 1919. The 2013 vintage marked the 15th anniversary of Riverbend Vineyard along the Wahluke Slope, and Mike Wade’s latest expression with Cabernet Franc is rather charming after 19 months in 70% new oak with aromas of fresh-baked cherry pie, a fun hint of Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries, coffee, chalkboard dust and a sense of forest floor. Resolved tannins allow for black cherry and dried blueberry to dominate the smoothly textured palate, where brightness extends through the finish of raspberry. These wines are available at their showpiece tasting room on the south shore of Lake Chelan, select restaurants, wine shops and online.
