Lagana Cellars 2016 Cockburn Ranch Chardonnay, Walla Walla Valley, $20
By Great Northwest Wine on June 9, 2017
Jason Fox, a proud product of Walla Walla Community College’s winemaking program, chose to create this is a bright and shiny style, and he’s hit the mark with Sept. 3 harvest at 21 Brix from the Zerba family’s Jon Cockburn Ranch near Milton-Freewater, Ore. It’s fruit-forward from start to finish with aromas and flavors of Bosc pear, Golden Delicious apple and shaved almond. Lemon juice and lime zest combine for a tingling finish. This earned a gold medal at the 2017 Cascadia Wine Competition, nearly two months prior to its May release.
