Timothy Malone Wines 2016 Medici Vineyard Riesling, Chehalem Mountains, $20
This vintage marked the 10th anniversary of New York native Tim Malone’s move to Oregon, where he trained at the likes of J. Christopher and Cameron along his path to developing his eponymous brand. His work with Riesling, which was harvested Oct. 11, is a crowd-pleaser with aromas and flavors of fruit cocktail led by Pink Lady apple and Elberta peach. A nibble of peach skin tannin and nicely presented acidity balances the residual sugar of 1.2%. Timothy Malone Wines will be among for the handful of Willamette Valley producers involved in the I Love Riesling festival July 8 at Teutonic Wine Co. in Portland.
