Northwest Cellars 2013 Syrah, Columbia Valley, $32
By Great Northwest Wine on August 22, 2017
This Syrah marked the start of three successive warm vintages in Washington’s Columbia Valley, and Kirkland vintner Robert Delf has dialed in Spofford Station and 10-year-old Tasawik Vineyard, a pair of Walla Walla County sites, for this smooth Syrah. Ripe plum, dark cherry, elderberry, smoked meat and horehound fill the nose. The pour brings blackberry and cherry juice flavors as soft tannins and a blueberry finish make this quite a quaffer and far from ponderous.
Rating: Outstanding!
Production: 195 cases
Alcohol: 13.9%
