Summit View Vineyard, a Walla Walla Valley site just south of Seven Hills Road and west of Milton-Freewater, Ore., is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, but Waterbrook winemaker John Freeman also admires the Malbec he works with from there so he produced a 100% varietal wine for Precept CEO Andrew Browne’s pet Browne Family Vineyards project. The 20-barrel bottling also serves as a homage to Browne’s wife, Courtney, and shows the style that some with 35% new French oak. Lovely aromas of light toast, cherry sauce, blackberry jam and brown sugar include lavender candy. Its fluid is rich with plum and blackberry flavors, backed by cherry pie filling, cranberries, a sense of earthiness and chalk dust elegance.
