Waterbrook Winery 2016 Mélange Founder’s White Blend Melanage, Columbia Valley, $12
By Great Northwest Wine on March 4, 2018
The aromatic blend of seven white varieties is led by Riesling (30%), but there are signs of nearly every other grape in the mix of Gewürztraminer (21%), Sauvignon Blanc (15%), Chenin Blanc (10%), Pinot Gris (10%), Muscat (10%) and Viognier (4%). Golden Delicious apple, jasmine, dusty lavender and lime peel lead to pleasing flavors of Barlett pear, Fuji apple and nectarine. There’s just enough acidity from the Uncola to give it balance while allowing the delicate finish of lychee and jasmine to come through. Serve it well-chilled and pair with light seafood or patio fare.
